Are you connected with Hands on Nashville?
Yes. While our organization involves a variety of groups, we are the regional Hands on Nashville deployment center and ask volunteers to register with HON (http://hon.org) prior to going out on a project.
What do I need to bring?
We never know what kind of assignment we may be able to offer you at a particular time, but here are a few basics:
- Flexibility
This IS a disaster area and things are constantly changing so come knowing that there may be wrinkles along the way. - Work Gloves
- Respiratory Masks
Mold and mildew are already starting to growth in flood ravaged buildings so you need to take care to protect yourself. You want a masks with a N95 rating. - Utility Knife (box cutter)
To cut carpet and drywall - Hand Sanitizer
Do we need to remind you that the sites are dirty? - Wonderbar and claw hammer (optional)
Our work teams will need these so if you have one, bring it along - If you wanted to bring extra masks, trash bags, and moving supplies, we certainly wouldn’t mind.
