Once the house is “cleaned” is has to dry thoroughly. While there are no absolute guidelines, this can take weeks if allowed to dry naturally, or days if dehumidifiers are used. In either case the studs in the house must be allowed to dry to a moisture content of no more than 20% (some experts would say 14% is optimal). Additionally all surfaces must be treated to remove bacteria and mold spores, and in most cases wood will need an additional sealant to retard mold growth in the future.
